Upper School

Our Upper School Career Exploration Electives (CEE) program gives students in grades 5-8 the opportunity to discover their interests, develop new skills, and explore the many possibilities that lie ahead. Each student will take 2 electives per trimester, for a total of 6 electives per year.

Through hands-on projects, real-world challenges, and collaborative learning, students experience a wide range of subjects connected to potential careers and future pathways. From robotics, engineering, and forensic science to entrepreneurship, financial literacy, the arts, public service, and environmental sustainability, our electives encourage students to ask questions, think critically, solve problems, and discover what inspires them.

Organized around nationally recognized career clusters, the program helps students connect what they learn in school to the world around them. Students build valuable skills in communication, teamwork, leadership, creativity, and problem-solving while gaining greater awareness of their strengths, interests, and future opportunities.

At Riverwood Academy, we believe that helping students explore their possibilities is an important part of preparing them for success, not just in high school, but throughout their lives. Our Career Exploration Electives make learning engaging, purposeful, and relevant while giving students opportunities to try something new, develop their talents, and begin imagining their futures.
