The Board of Trustees are tasked with the strategic planning, oversight, governance and accountability of the school. The Head of School oversees the school’s operations and is ultimately responsible for the day-to-day activities, including but not limited to, strategic leadership , fiscal management, compliance and reporting, community engagement and program evaluation and development.

Amy Bottomley serves as the Founding Head of School at Riverwood Academy Charter School, where she brings more than 25 years of experience in education, including over a decade in school administration. Her leadership blends a passion for educational innovation with a strong foundation in entrepreneurship and student-centered learning.
Since joining Riverwood Academy, Amy has led the school to numerous recognitions, including the NH Edies Student Empowerment Award (2022), Non-Profit Business of the Year (2021) by the Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce, and the Building Hope Impact Grant Award for Educational Innovation (2024). Individually, she has been honored as Outstanding Administrator (2017) and Outstanding District Administrator (2024) by MicroSociety Inc.’s National Headquarters.
Amy holds a B.A. in Education with a concentration in English from Bethany College (WV) and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from New England College (NH). She is certified by the State of New Hampshire in the areas of Principal, General Special Education, and Special Education Administration.
Her career began as a special education and high school English teacher, before transitioning into administration in 2010. Amy has worked extensively with students across grades K–8, combining her instructional and leadership skills to support inclusive, innovative, and high-performing school environments.
In addition to her role in education, Amy is also the co-owner of Fleet Feet Nashua, a running specialty store she operates with her husband, BJ. She resides in Hollis, New Hampshire, with her husband and two sons.
Kim Plummer is thrilled to be joining the team at Riverwood. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire in Recreation Management and Policy with a focus in therapeutic recreation. She is also an accomplished violinist and busy mom to four boys. Kim lives in Nashua with her husband and four sons. Her family shares a love of traveling, music and theater.
Hello! I’m Grace Greenaway, the Outreach & Development Coordinator. This will be my third year at Riverwood, and I am so excited for the school year. I have a BA from Bryant University, and when I’m not learning or working, I am at the beach with my family and friends!

Barbara is a Nashua native who recently moved back to the city with her husband and two children. Her daughter currently attends Riverwood. Barbara practices real estate and business law at Winer and Bennett, LLP in Nashua. She is a graduate of Boston University and Boston University School of Law. Before returning to Nashua, she began her law career at a large international law firm. Barbara actively volunteers in her community and serves on the board of directors of her son’s preschool. As a parent representative, Barbara brings her legal and analytical skills to the Riverwood Board of Trustees.
John Dagianis, MD comes to Riverwood Academy as a well-known ophthalmologist at Nashua Eye Associates. Since 1980 he has assisted in growing the practice from 5 employees to over 132. Board positions that he has held include VP of New England Ophthalmology Society, Rivier University Board of Trustees, and Parish Council of St. Philip’s Greek Orthodox Church. Dr. Dagianis has been active in the retention area of Rivier University and was Chairman of the Academic Affairs Committee for 6 years. He holds teaching positions and is on staff at Tufts University-New England Eye Center and at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Dagianis brings to Riverwood experience in education and non-profit boards, an understanding of business issues of start-up organizations and promoting such facilities.
Holly Knight brings a wealth of experience and a passion for education to the Board of Trustees at Riverwood Academy Charter School. With a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in Education, Knight has dedicated her career to the field of learning, teaching at every level from preschool through college and executive education. In her full-time role, Knight is a financial advisor who focuses on financial planning and financial education. Her educational philosophy is grounded in the belief that every student possesses untapped potential, waiting to be unlocked. Through her work, she has consistently demonstrated a commitment to overcoming barriers to education, ensuring that students of all backgrounds have the opportunity to succeed. As a member of the Board, Ms. Knight is excited to contribute her expertise and passion to the charter school’s mission of providing high-quality education to all students.
As a Riverwood founder, Tom brings 34 years of experience working with diverse Grades K-8 students and staff in Lowell (MA) Public Schools. As a founding teacher, Tom served 24 of those years at the McDonough City Magnet School, the nation’s first K-8 MicroSociety school, working as a Reading & Government/ Citizenship teacher, MicroSociety Curriculum/Program Facilitator, LPS District Equity Facilitator, and 11 years as CMS Principal. Tom is an experienced trainer/ consultant/presenter for MSI (MicroSociety, Inc.) and has worked as an adjunct professor at Fitchburg (MA) State Univ., Nova Southeastern University (FL) and guest lecturer at UMass/Lowell. He has led online courses showing teachers from across the country how state standards can be incorporated into MicroSociety, presented at national and state conferences, and worked with teachers and administrators at schools in New York, Arizona, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. For the past two years Tom has volunteered as a development and curriculum consultant and MACS founder to help his former students realize their dream of creating a MicroSociety School for their children in NH.
Tom comes to Riverwood Academy as an Information Technology executive formerly with Fidelity Investments after taking early retirement after 18 years. Since joining Fidelity, he has been an active member in the volunteer community supporting Fidelity’s tradition of community philanthropic activities, including First programs targeting school age children to learn about money management. Tom is currently a board trustee with the New Hampshire Institute of Arts in Manchester, NH. There he is the Chairman of the Audit committee, and active trustee on the Facilities committee supported by his technology expertise. With over 30 years of information technology experience, Tom brings financial, technology, board and leadership acumen to the Riverwood Board of Trustees. Our children are our greatest asset. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that future generations are aptly prepared for the opportunities ahead. The Riverwood Academy Charter school provides the best outcome to build the foundation skills that our future practitioners and leaders will need.
